Basilica Cistern and other sights.

I am amazed what heights our species reached thousands of years ago. The Basilica Cistern is one of those wonders. Not only did it serve a purpose as the city's water supply but was also an expression of the soul and heart of a civilization. What are we building now that people will admire in 1500 years?

Easier than writing myself :-)

One of Medusa's heads is upside down

The other on her side. The significance has been lost

Music and chilly air made the atmosphere magical

Apart from the Cistern we walked around the Haga Sophia. The decorations on the domes are spectacular.

The Sultan Ahmed cemetery is an oasis of silence in the middle of the bustling city.

And of course amazing sweet shops

Locals relaxing at the monument to the founding fathers in Taksim square. We missed the shuttle and had to return to the Hotel with the totally inadequate Public transport system. Emperor Justinian could most definitely have done much better.
